I want to share how much I love Wonderful Wait! I say wonderful because I find it so useful in everyday life. It’s probably the exercise I use most.

Lots of people ask their dog to wait while they put the food bowl on the ground and before crossing at crossroads. This is great! There are HEAPS more ways we can also use “wait” to better communicate to our dogs what we want them to do.

In this video I demonstrate some of the ways I use wait with Blue every day to navigate everyday life with him as a young energetic dog.

The last video is a new way of using wait

For us, I want Blue to focus on me after he goes out the front door so I’m using a treat in my hand to encourage that.

NOTE: Wait is different to “stay.” Wait is like asking your dog to freeze until you say your release cue. (My release cue is “free.”)

If I was asking my dog to go on their bed for a period of time would ask them to “stay” on their bed.
