I’m Sue, dog trainer, behaviour consultant, and the voice behind Dog Almighty. Originally from Ireland, I now call Aotearoa home. I’ve always been fascinated by what makes animals tick, especially dogs. That curiosity turned into a full-blown calling, and in 2011, I started Dog Almighty. Since then, I’ve helped thousands of humans and their dogs build better lives together. My style is grounded, honest and kind. No fluff, no force, and definitely no judgment.

I bring a strong background in dog behaviour and a belief that you don’t need to be perfect to make progress. I’ll help you understand your dog, respond to their needs, and create change that lasts. One small step at a time.

Whether you’ve got a fresh new puppy, a rescue, or a dog who’s making life tricky right now, I promise you, you’re not alone! Also… no, you haven’t “done it wrong.” This is real life, and I’m here to help you train your dog in a way that’s kind, practical and actually works. With 15 years of professional experience, I know how to get results, especially when it comes to dogs who are anxious, reactive, or struggling with aggression. I’m also a huge believer in prevention, and love helping puppies (and their people) get started on the right paw.

I have three rescue dogs of my own, Rosie, Sprocket, and Blue, all of whom play an important role in my life and at Dog Almighty HQ. You can meet them below.

Qualifications/Certifications:

• The School of Canine Science, Behaviour Bible, Canine Science Behaviourist. 2022 to 2025 (ongoing study).
• Certified Dog Behaviour Consultant with International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC) from 2018 to 2021. Supporting member 2022 to 2024.
• Full member of Association of Pet Dog Trainers, New Zealand (APDTNZ).
• Internship in dog training and behaviour at the San Francisco SPCA (2011).
• Diploma in Canine Studies with Oxford College (UK) (2010).
• Certified graduate of the dog*tec Advanced Dog Walking Academy (2010).
• A degree and a master’s degree in law (BCL, LLM) and a keen interest in animal welfare law.
