Not ready to commit to full length Solving Reactivity on Dog Walks? No problem! If you have a reactive dog and still need answers, this is the solution for you. This is a short version of that course and that’s why I call it a crash course. It’s the same great training, just in a bite size. You can upgrade to the full course at any time.
If your dog is reactive, you will be familiar with some or all of the following reactions… barking, whining, lunging, pulling, sparing (up on their back legs) or even cartwheeling!! If this sounds like your dog, you have come to the right place. Welcome!
REACTIVITY FUN FACTS
- Reactivity is your dog expressing emotion.
- It is thought that as many as 1 in 3 dogs are reactive.
- Dogs can have various ‘triggers’ that spark them to react, i.e. dogs, cats, birds, traffic, the TV, etc.
- Reactivity tends to be more intense when a dog is confined by a lead or barrier as opposed to off lead.
- Many reactive dogs are actually just very afraid.
DOG DOG REACTIVITY
A very common trigger for reactivity is when a dog sees another dog when out for a walk. This is known as “Dog to dog reactivity” or “Dog dog reactivity”. Much of this course will focus on controlling reactions towards other dogs. However, the strategies outlined in this course can be used to control a reaction to pretty much any trigger.
